This sport has been an unknown until very recently in Spain and Galicia.
In 2020, in the middle of the world pandemic, a teacher of Physical Education in Pontevedra, Galicia, with a great experience in the world of racket and paddle sports and with more than 20 years of work in the school, looked for options to be able to teach the subject of Physical Education with the restrictions that the Spanish State had imposed, such as not sharing material and maintaining a safe distance. So he decided to use the Badminton courts and with paddle paddles each student could have their own material and not have to share it.
From here and looking for new alternatives, he found the sport of Pickleball in the United States had been growing for several years, and it was something similar to what his students were practicing with different material and regulations.
In 2021 APIGA (Pickleball Association in Galicia) was created and this teacher began to collaborate for the organization of events and Pickleball activities throughout Galicia, carrying out a school project involving more schools in the population.
During these four years that innovative teacher ends up founding the Pickleball Club Pontevedra, being President of the same, and forming 4 sports schools and organizing tournaments and circuits throughout Galicia.
